Let the fun begin! Eat Local Week starts Saturday, December 4th

If you still have a food hangover from your delicious Thanksgiving binge, you'll need to let out another notch in that belt because it's time to celebrate Austin's local food scene at its finest during Edible Austin's Eat Local Week.

The week kicks off Friday night at the BookPeople Preview Event and continues with events at which you can explore local farms, pig out at a pig roast at Springdale Farm, over caffeinate at the Drink Local Coffee Fest or enjoy a movie and fine dining at the Alamo Benefeast. You can start your holiday shopping at the Better Bites gift fair or Fine Food and Art night and wind down the week with the Texas Craft Brew mini-festival.

All proceeds from the week's events benefit Urban Roots, a local nonprofit that teaches farming and running a market stand as part of a youth leadership development program. You can buy individual tickets or a VIP Pass that gets you into all events except the Alamo Benefeast and the Michael Pollan event.

Phew! If events aren't your cup of tea, you can still help out Urban Roots by dining out or shopping at local stores.
