Losing it with Magazines

By CIAO-CHOW (Visit website)

I have to tell you, working out is not one of my favorite things to do.
If it were the last day of my life and you asked me to choose between working out and forced labor..well..I would choose forced labor (which in itself could be a work out!). Anyway...I had to find ways to spice up my work outs so to keep it interesting and not routinely.

I do a variety of exercises.
I strength train.
I switch machines.
I listen to podcasts.
I make new playlists

Lately, I discovered a new way to get sweating while time flies by! How?
MAGAZINES!!!! You heard me! MAGAZINES have spiced up my workout routines.
They make time fly by because you concentrate on the pages, articles and images. It is the best!
Here is what I have learned:

HIGH INTENSITY CARDIO = Fashion Magazines.

They work the best. Why? Images and clothes is what you concentrate on without losing your stamina and fast pace work out ( I tried reading during high intensity workout and within 30 minutes I had read the same two words 72 times!)

LOW INTENSITY CARDIO (fat burning)= Fitness Magazines

They work the best. Why? Because you can actually read the articles, slowly, and couple times you will find yourself reading the same sentence, but it is doable.
This works best on the treadmill because your body is not going up and down!
PLUS
When reading fitness magazines, you might find yourself reading something you can put into practice on the spot!
I read that throwing punches while on the treadmill increases your workout.
So I started throwing punches!
My heart rate elevated within seconds...it was perfect!
Another PLUS?
The magazine covers the display so you will not have to look at the slow ticking time!

So next time you head to the gym, bring your favorite magazine (s) and give it a try!

My work out was great today!
I truly enjoy starting with strenght training.
I end up doing so much more...
So today
5 minutes: warm up on the stairmaster
40 minutes full body strenght training (including planks...I hate planks)
25 minutes: treadmill glute buster, level 4, incline 6, pace 3.6

YAY FOR ME!

What tricks do you use to make time go faster at the gym???

When I got home, I had lunch (left over Calzone)
Then made this....
{ Mint/Basil Greek Yogurt dip}
It was easy easy easy...
Chopped fresh mint
Chopped fresh basil
and non fat Greek Yogurt.
Eric and I had it as an afternoon snack.
It was ok. I think I exaggerated with the herbs. Next time less....

I also finally got the chance to use 4 coupons for free SIGGI's Yogurt.

I tried the orange ginger and oh my god!
SO TART!!! SO SO TART! But I enjoyed it!
I really liked the nutritional facts and the ingredient list
And...they use only grass fed cows...so the milk does not contain any traces of Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH)!

I am curios to taste the vanilla....I will let you know!

Dinner was good too....simple...easy!
It started with a sautee of garlic and fresh ginger in olive oil.
Chopped some red peppers
Added chicken strips and cooked the whole thing.
Then, added whole wheat past for a great finale!
I hope your day has been a great one!

A.
