Macaron Day Manila
Annually, only two cities in the entire globe celebrate Macaron Day. These cities happen to be Paris in France and New York in the US. For this year though, Manila will join the revelry for the first time, which will be presented by none other than Empire Macarons.
Five years ago, top pastry chef Pierre Herme, known now as the father of modern macaron, founded the Macaron Day in Paris. Thereafter, that day is celebrated every 20th of March in honor of the lovely and colorful, fragile and flavorful confectionery that has held millions under its spell for more than a century.
Empire Macarons would like to invite everyone to come to Mercato Centrale, Bonifacio Global City, on Sunday, March 20, 2011 to celebrate Macaron Day Manila with other macaron enthusiasts. In tradition with Herme’s Macaron Day Paris, Macaron Day Manila would be helping a specific charity. This event would be for the benefit of Real Life Foundation, an organization that provides a character mentoring and scholarship program to underprivileged yet deserving individuals for secondary and tertiary education. The foundation even has an entire department dedicated to feeding programs, community service, and disaster relief. A portion of Empire’s sales on Macaron Day [from the Empire Macarons booth in Tent #2] will be given to Real Life Foundation.
The Macaron Day Manila booth will be at the stage area between Tents #1 and 2, where macarons will be given away for FREE. [Yes, you got that right.
It would be wonderful if everyone could take part in the fun. Tell your friends and family to come to Mercato Centrale on the 20th and let us celebrate Macaron Day together!!!
Note: Mercato Centrale will be moving to a bigger area a few blocks down the road right beside the Starbucks drive-thru, and across MC Home Depot which will be a more permanent spot for this booming weekend market. Since Macaron Day Manila is set on the 20th of March, that means Mercato Centrale will already be in its new home.
