Mutter paneer is North Indian gravy dish made from Green Peas and paneer in onion-tomato gravy. I used canned tomato sauce which gives nice color to the dish and of course very yummy taste to the curry. Matar Paneer curry goes well with naan, paratha or roti. So make this delicious curry at home and left your feedback in comments below.

  • Take roughly chopped onions and green chilies in food processor and pulse it till they are finely chopped. Or you can chop them using knife very finely.
Heat the oil in a pan on medium heat. Once hot add cumin seeds and bay leaf. Let cumin seeds sizzle.
Then add chopped onion, ginger paste and garlic paste. Mix well. Let it cook till onion mixture turns brown. It will take about 7 minutes. Stir in between.
Then add tomato sauce, salt, garam masala, red chili powder. Mix well. And let it cook till oil separates from sides. It will take about 8-10 minutes. Stir in between to make sure that tomato-onion mixture doesn’t stick to bottom of the pan.
Then add green peas and water and mix well. Cover the pan and cook till peas are cooked and tender. Stir in between.
Then add heavy cream and mix well.
Add paneer and mix well. Cook it for 3-4 minutes. (If you find gravy is thick then you can add water at this time and let it cook.)
    Serve hot.
  • Notes
Red chili powder and green chilies amounts are to taste.
You can adjust the water amount as per you liking gravy consistency.
    Serve with
    1. Roti or paratha or naan
Sliced onions with few lemon drops
    Buttermilk on side
    2. Or with rice
