Making my grocery shopping easier

By Simple Food Allergy Recipes (Visit website)

I'm already starting to feel the shopping stress that is on its way. Usually I am much more prepared but this year I haven't been able to get out as much without my little ones so I've been looking for ways to get a little more time. My sister suggested I try out grocery shopping on Peapod. I had thought about it but grocery shopping for a family with some food restrictions is ten times more difficult because of the constant label reading. I can't just make a list and buy whatever is on sale, or make a menu plan and find everything I need to create those meals. I have to look through each label and even the labels of foods that I have previously purchased. You see each company has their own recipes and at any time that recipe can change. But I went ahead and checked out Peapod and was surprised to see they have a filter you can set up for shopping with a special diet. So I chose, milk free and egg free and sure enough it brought any items that fit that criteria to the top of the list! This was purely exciting for me! I did still double check the label on screen to make sure it was working correctly and I did notice that there were some foods that didn't show up with the green dot even though they are something I buy and fit the criteria and there are many specialty items I WISH they would carry so I wouldn't have to drive to every grocery/health food store in a 25 mile radius (that alone would make me a loyal customer).

However, this feature made shopping rather enjoyable. In the future it will save me time since Peapod saves my previous purchases so I don't have to do as much searching. I think I will be using this service every once in a while especially during this busy holiday season and our dreadful winters. Having someone else bring the groceries to me and even place them in my kitchen was a treat (yes my life is pretty boring lately, lol!) and delivery is only $6.95 on a $100 order. That is totally worth not having to deal with traffic, gas expense, my children fighting in the store or begging me for candy and then having to get everything unloaded, plus you can shop anytime right from your computer and they will accept coupons! I highly recommend giving it a try if you are shopping for someone with a special diet it may make things a little easier for you and who knows you may find something new too!
