Mangalorean Style Rice Murukku ( Chakkuli / Chakali )
Mangalorean Style Rice Murukku ( Chakkuli / Chakali ) Makes: 30 - 36 Chakkukis / Murukku Ingredients 1 1/2 cup boiled rice Method150 - 200 ml coconut milk 1/2 cup urad dal 1 teaspoon til ( sesame seeds ) 1 teaspoon jeera 1 teaspoon butter Salt to taste Cooking oil frying murukku (approximately 500 ml ) Soak the rice in water for 1 hour . Drain out water and grind to a fine paste with coconut milk. Roast the urad dal on a dry tawa until light brown and make a fine powder. Add the powdered urad dal to the rice paste. Then add til, jeera, butter and salt to taste. Mix well and make it as thick as chapati dough. Put this dough in a murukku / chakali mould and press it to chakali shapes ( or desired shapes and sizes ) on a paper. Heat oil in a wide kadai/ frying pan. Transfer this chakulis / murukku into the cooking oil and fry on a medium heat until golden brown. related searches : Mangalorean
