Masala Kulambu
Masala kulambu is my Mom's recipe carried forward from my grandma. A pure South indian dish, I simply love the flavour and NonVeg-alike taste of this kulambu. Try out and relish!
![]() Ingredients: 1. Mixed vegetables(Drumstick, Potato, Brinjal) - 1 cup, 2. Pearl onions - 1/4 cup(Chop thin), 3. Garlic cloves - 2 tsp(chop lengthwise), 4. Tomato - 1(Finely chopped), 5. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp, 6. Red chilly powder - 3 tsp, 7. Coriander powder - 31/2 tsp, 8. Tamarind juice - 1/2 cup, 9. Salt - 3 tsp, 10. Curry leaves - 1 string, 11. Oil - for frying. For seasoning: 1. Cinnamon sticks - 1, 2. Clove - 1, 3. Fennel seeds - 1 tsp, 4. Karikulambu poo (Shown below) - 1 tsp need not crush.(Special spice for this kulambu, gives the original flavour). ![]() To grind: 1. Grated coconut - 1/4 cup, 2. Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp. How to make this? 1. In a pressure cooker, heat the oil, add the spices, except that karikulambu poo and saute a min. Add the onions, garlic, curry leaves, karikulambu poo and saute a min. You'll get excellent mutton kulambu flavour. 2. Add the tomatoes and saute a min. Add the turmeric, chilly and coriander powder, salt and saute till raw flavour goes. 3. Now add the vegetables and saute well for a min in high flame. Add the coconut paste and saute till they cook and raw flavour goes. 6. Add the tamarind juice according to taste and add enough water to cook the veggies. Adjust salt and close the lid and cook for 2 whistles. 7. Cool, uncover. You'll see oil floating on top with delicious flavour. 8. Garnish with cilantro and serve hot with plain rice, appalam/papadam..!! related searches : Masala
