Milagu Poondu Kulambhu

MILAGU POONDU KULAMBHU

Kulambhu is a stew based on a broth made with tamarind. The dish is very popular as a side for rice in the southern regions of India especially in Tamil Nadu. Kulambhu vareities are countless, with each state in the South preparing it with a typical variation, adapted to its taste.

Cuisine : Indian

Preparation time : 15 mins

Cooking time : 30 mins

Course : Side Dish

Main Ingredient : Black Pepper and Garlic.

Ingredients :

Garlic - 10 pods

Tamarind paste - 2 tbsp

Sesame Oil - 3 tbsp

Turmeric - 1 tsp

Curry leaves - few

Salt to taste

To Grind :

Malli seed - 1 tbsp

Black Pepper - 1 tbsp

Jeera - 1 tbsp

Channa dal - 1 tbsp

Red chilli - 3

Cashew nut - 3



Preparation :

Heat a pan, add oil to the pan, add seasoning, curry leaves and red chilli.After it is done, add Garlic to the pan.

Add water with tamarind paste and turmeric to it. Let it boil for a while.

Grind everything (which is listed above). Add to the boiling pan.Let it reduce to a paste.Add salt , garnish.

Serve it hot with rice.
