Must-Have Cooking Tools - Take 3

By Essentially Entertaining (Visit website)

Sharing a few more of the cooking tools we MUST-HAVE in our kitchen to prep for entertaining!

Are any of these favorites of yours?

Microplane® Medium Ribbon Grater

Microplane®  says....

Grates ingredients in both directions, saving time and effort. It is one of the coarsest of the Microplane blade styles.

Blade made of surgical grade stainless steel. Choose between Black, empire red, and cobalt blue plastic handles. Dishwasher safe.  Dimensions: 12" x 1 5/16". Weight: 4 oz.

We recommend rinsing your grater in warm water immediately after each use. Remove particles stuck in the blade from the back side whenever possible. To remove "stuck on food" from the front, first soak the tool in warm water and then use a cleaning brush and stroke in the same direction as the teeth.

Store with blade covered when not in use.

The Savvy Host says...

We so enjoy ALL the Microplane products and love the fact that they originated as woodworking tools.  This handy grater offers an alternative texture and visual appeal to grating apples, horseradish, beets, ginger, cucumbers, cheese and chocolate.  It's extremely useful for adding those "finishing" touches of flavor.  A nice little gift item for someone who loves food preparation.

Bodum French Press Coffee Maker

Bodum  says....

We developed the EILEEN French press coffee maker not only in honor of the great Irish designer Eileen Gray (1879 ? 1976), but for all the coffee connoisseurs who frequent the bistros and cafés of Paris ? Gray?s adopted city. It?s specifically designed to withstand the exacting conditions of busy café and restaurant use. A solid steel frame protects the glass from knocks and bumps, and the round handle makes it easy to carry more than one at the time. Who says you can?t have your own private Parisian bistro at home? The EILEEN has become an instant classic.

It comes in three different sizes (0.35 litre, 0.5 litre and 1.0 litre) and has all the wonderful advantages of a French press system built into its modernistic style. EILEEN is made from borosilicate glass, stainless steel, chrome-plated steel and plastic and is dishwasher safe.

The Savvy Host says...

We had an "aha" moment with this product last month.  While entertaining al fresco on the rooftop deck, we wanted to serve coffee.  Rather than prepping the full coffee service indoors and downstairs, we simply used the grill to heat water, and used our Eileen French Press to serve ever so elegantly!  We'll keep one Bodum in the rooftop kitchenette from now on!  Such a perfect housewarming gift or something to help the new graduate...
