My Favorite Breakfast

By Iowa Girl Eats (Visit website)

Look who is STILL here!

The dark comedy, The Men Who Stare At Goats, has turned into a horror flick, The Movie We Keep Forgetting to Return! Nothing like spending $3 on a movie we never got around to watching… :(  Oh well, maybe I’ll get a coffee when I return it to the Kum & Go near my house on the way to work. :)

Well, sadly, last night I came down with a fever. GRANOLA FEVER! I wasn’t kidding when I said I couldn’t keep my hands out of that dark chocolate almond blend, and after eating about a thousand bowls, I still feel like a stuffed spring chicken this morning! Therefore, I kept breakfast light and made a small bowl of oatmeal…in a jar for breakfast! My favorite!!!

In the mix:

1 almost empty almond butter jar
1/4 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 cup water
1 banana
vanilla extract
cinnamon

Take almost empty almond/peanut/sunflower/any nut butter jar you’ve got,

fill with piping hot oatmeal and bananas,

and devour!

This might have been the fullest my “almost empty” jar of almond butter has ever been and IT WAS AMAZING!

I popped the lid on while the oats were still hot to get some meltage going on. You don’t want to waste a drop of that luscious AB! Mmm – best breakfast ever. You’ve got to try this!

Even before all that granola, the potatoes, french toast, scones and cinnamon rolls from Mother’s Day brunch had me craving some fresh, good for me greens, so I packed a HUGE salad for lunch!

In the mix:

Vegetable salad blend
Spinach
Carrots
Broccoli
Kiwi
Peanuts

HAVE YOU ADDED PEANUTS TO YOUR SALADS YET?! Try it, I’m telling you!

This looks like a lunch my body will thank me for. :)

Plus a Pink Lady Apple. I love how the stem of this apple looks like a little telescope peeking out of a submarine or something. ;)

Oh you guys – I added a Restaurant Review tab to the top navigation of my site, so if you’re reading this post in a reader, hop on over and check it out!

I’ve included my reviews for restaurants here in town, as well as the ones I’ve visited on vacation. I’m excited to start writing more! :D

Time to hit the road – have a wonderful Monday!

What’s your favorite restaurant you’ve ever been to?

I have three. :)

My first is Miyabi 9 for sushi here in town. My second is this restaurant I went to at least three times a week when I lived in Japan called The Peach. I don’t know what it’s really called because I…don’t read Japanese…but it had a giant picture of a peach on the outside, so that’s what we called it! Anyways, they had these life changing gyozas that I can literally still taste, and the best traditional Tokyo Ramen Soup in town. My third favorite is Emeril’s NOLA in New Orleans. I would pay to fly to NO for a day, just so I could have that BBQ Salmon with Sweet Corn Maque Choux again!!!
