Naan / Indian flat bread
Naan.... Indian flat bread....the most comfy food perfect for any time, any place, any occasion. The best part about this bread is...it compliments any curry recipe. You do not have to specifically cook something to pair with this. Even a plain leftover curry also makes a perfect combination. Once you learn the technique its so easy and quick. You wanna make it forever.
Preparation time = 10 mins (excl. rising time) Serves = 4 Calories = Approx 150 / Naan INGREDIENTS- 2 Cups All purpose flour 1 Tsp Active yeast 1 Tsp Salt 2 Cups Milk 1 Egg (Optional) 2 Tbsp Oil 1/2 Cup Lukewarm water PREPARATION- 1. Add yeast to the lukewarm water along with sugar and salt and allow to proof till the yeast gets frothy. 2. Now stir in the milk, oil and egg. Mix well. 3. Take the flour in a bowl. Slowly add the liquid and mix till the flour gets together. The dough will be sticky at this point. Knead the dough for few mins. 4. Spray the bowl and the dough with oil. Cover with a damp towel and allow the dough to rest for 2 hrs or until its doubled. 5. Once the dough is doubled, knead the dough again. Divide into lemon size balls and roll the dough into your desired shape. 6. Preheat the oven to 500* F. 7. Spray baking sheet with non stick cooking oil. Place the rolled dough on the baking tray and stretch it once again. Bake for 5 mins on each side. 8. Once done remove out of the oven and apply butter.
