No. 18 Zion Road Char Kway Teow

By The Silver Chef (Visit website)

Char Kway Teow, which is really wok fried rice cake noodles, is one of our most famous local concoctions. And what better place to have a plate of this than at Zion Market.

Zion Market itself has a couple of char kway teow stalls, but the one that is most notable happens to only operate at night, to cater to the partying crown nearby.

Situated at the corner next to the main road, No. 18 char kway teow will no doubt have an endless queue at any given time. It has been featured in countless magazines and media programmes, so I shall just progress to the food itself.

Fried Char Kway Teow

As you can see from the photo, the noodles is always packed to the side of the plate as this is how they plate this. The noodles themselves were very smooth and palatable, and the mixture of cockles and egg with the fried pork fat is simply sinful and gorgeous.

The noodles was also a mix of the flat rice noodles combined with some thin egg noodles as well. And the whole mixture was fried in dark soy which gives it that distinctive blackish look. Garnished with the spring onions and bean sprouts, this is a heavenly plate.
