No Groceries

By Carrots 'N' Cake (Visit website)

Once again, we are just about out of food at home. Doesn’t it always seem like Mal and I never have groceries? I feel like I write quite a few posts about the weird lunches that I throw together because we have no regular “lunch” food. As you know, we spent the past weekend in Newport and we’re off to Vermont this coming weekend, so we figured we’d just “wing it” this week with what we have in the fridge and cupboards. As you can see, it hasn’t been easy! Anyway, I’ve decided that we’re lazy gluttons. :)

Today’s random mix of lunch foods:

Raw veggies: carrots, snap peas, and broccoli…

… with Garden Vegetable Hummus (dip and eat).

Lunch also included a protein-packed vanilla Chobani with fiber sticks…

… and a very pretty bottle of Saratoga Natural Spring Water.

I love the color of the Saratoga bottles! Of course, the water is delicious, but I think the fancy blue bottle makes it taste even better! :) Isn’t it funny how food packaging makes you perceive the product inside? I know you shouldn’t “judge a book by its cover,” but sometimes it’s hard not to, especially for the initial taste test.

And finally, lunch included a fantastic chocolate-covered shortbread cookie. I’m such a sucker for shortbread cookies! I just pretend that they don’t have pounds and pounds of saturated fat in them! :)

Too Tired for Fun?

So, I was supposed to meet up with a few friends in Southie for dinner and drinks later tonight, but I am too exhausted and decided to cancel with them. (Sorry Pam and Jen!) Sometimes, you just need to take your own personal wellness into account. Luckily, my friends know all about my crazy schedule and understand why I am not meeting up with them. I’m sure we’ll make plans again soon. Anyway, I do, however, have a nice, quiet evening at home with my hubby to look forward to. We have plans to catch up with our DVR-ed shows, drink some vino, and order take-out. Having no food in the house is the perfect excuse for take-out sushi, right?! :) Sounds like a perfect night to me!

Love and Food

Here’s an interesitng article about love and food that I found on FoodFit.com. It fits in well with today’s Question of the Day.

Edited at 4:15pm: Just made myself a packet of maple brown sugar instant oatmeal. I am hungry!
