Paruppu urundai kuzhambu (Tangy Dhal balls Curry)..!

Here i bring for you a traditional south indian dish. Enjoy!

PARUPPU URUNDAI KUZHAMBU:



Very healthy delicious tangy curry to be relished in pregnancy time too.. It contains pulse as high protein, also the tanginess of the curry will be apt for the pregnant women to eat a healthy meal with boiled egg..

Ingredients:

1. Toor dhal - 1 cup(Soak in water for 2hrs),
2. Pearl onions - 10 chop finely,
3. Tomato - 1 chop finely,
4. Garlic cloves - 3 chop finely,
5. Grated coconut - 1/2 cup,
6. Tamarind juice - 1/2 cup,
7. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp,
8. Red chilly powder - 2 tsp,
9. Corinader powder - 3 tsp,
10. Methi/Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tsp,
11. Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp,
12. Oil - as needed,
13. Curry leaves - 1 string,
14. Cilantro for garnish.

How to make this?

Paruppu Urundai:



1. Drain the soaked dhal completely and grind with 1/2 tsp fennel seeds, salt in to a coarse mixture without adding water. Take it in a bowl.
2. Add a 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp chilly powder, 4 chopped pearl onions, chopped garlic, enough salt if needed, 3 tsp grated coconut, some curry leaves and mix well.
3. Shape in to small round balls and steam cook them till done.

Kuzhambu:



1. Grind the coconut with some fennel seeds in to a fine paste and keep aside.
2. Heat oil in kadai, add the methi seeds, some fennel seeds and leave for 2mins till they splutter.
3. Add the pearl onions, curry leaves and saute well. Add the tomatoes and saute well till they get mashed.
4. Add the chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt and saute till the raw flavour goes.
5. Now add the ground coconut paste and saute well for 3mins till the oil floates on top.
6. Now add the tamarind juice, enough water and leave it to boil for 5-8mins. When the kuzhambu reaches the right thick consistency, adjust salt and add some oil on top and simmer for 5mins.
7. Add the steamed paruppu(dhal) balls in the kuzhmabu and leave in medium flame for 5mins.
8. Finally, add some oil on top of the kuzhambu and garnish with cilantro and serve.

Delicious kuzhambu is ready to be relished with hot rice, appalam, boiled egg..!! enjoy!;)
