Penang trip - Day 1 in Georgetown, Penang (Part 2): Penang City Tour

I like Penang, people here are welcoming and food is scrumptious. Put it in a simply words, the place smelt wonderfully nostalgic.



We have spent RM 90 to hire 2 trishaws for 2 hours city trip. My trishaw rider is a great ?tour guide?, he planned the itinerary, provide contemporary heritage interpretation, and stop at any point to allow me taking photo. Compare to him, my mum?s trishaw rider played Teresa Teng?s song along the journey, laughing.

St. George?s Church - the oldest Anglican church in Southeast Asia



Kapitan Keling Mosque - the most prominent historic mosque in Penang and features a dome-shaped minaret reflecting Moorish Islamic influence



Goddess of Mercy Temple - one of the oldest Chinese temples in Penang. It is flocked to by pilgrims and followers all year round, particularly on the first and fifteenth day of each lunar month



Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi - richly ornamented carvings of the roofs, walls and pillars reflect the art and architecture of ancient China. Entrance fee RM5, worth for visit!















Queen Victoria Clock Tower - This 60-foot-high clock tower was presented to Penang by local millionaire, Cheah Chen Eok, in 1897 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria.



It is worth to have a day trip for the unique architectural and cultural townscape, which you can?t find elsewhere. I highly recommend trishaw city tour, but always remember to negotiate the fare first before getting on a trishaw; it is advisable to hire them by the hours for extended sightseeing.
