Pierogies with Caramelized Cabbage and Onions.

By Wish Upon A Dish (Visit website)

This is a quick and delicious dinner. No recipe required if you buy a good quality pierogie. You need a large non-stick frying pan, 1 onion sliced thinly and 1/4 head of cabbage (Green, savoy or even red), shredded, some bacon fat or butter and water.

I heat up a large gratin non-stick pan that I have, melt the butter and bacon fat.
Saute the onions and cabbage until they are caramelized. Remove to a platter. Add about 1/2 cup water & the pierogies to the fry pan and season with salt. Cover and boil until water is gone and the pierogies start to brown. Add the cabbage and onions back into the pan, stir to combine, remove from the heat and cover with foil until ready to eat.

Serve with sour cream and/or applesauce.
I bought potato and cheese pierogies that were fresh not frozen.

I used up the last of my cabbage with this dish.
