Pilaf sarbesc - Serbian pilaf

This recipe is for my friend Sandi, she knows why ;)




Sa incepem cu ingredientele care ne trebuiesc:

- 2 cepe medii, tocate marunt

- 1 ardei gras, taiat cubulete mici

- 2 tije telina, taiate marunt

- 3 rosii potrivite, taiate cubulete

- 1 morcov mare, ras

- 1 mana patrunjel proaspat, tocat

- 1 cana orez

- sare, piper dupa gust



This is what we'll need for this simple and very tasty recipe

-  2 medium onions, finely chopped

- 1 bell pepper, diced

- 2 celery stalks, diced

- 3 medium tomatoes, finely diced

- 1 large carrot, grated

- 1 handful of fresh parsley, chopped

- 1 cup rice

- salt, pepper to taste









Puneti ceapa la calit, la foc mediu, in 2 linguri de ulei de masline si lasati-o cam 5 minute



Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pot, add the onion and let it soften, about 5 minutes





adaugati apoi restul legumelor, sare si piper dupa gust, amestecati in cratita si lasati 2-3 minute



add the rest of the vegetables, salt and pepper to taste, stir and leave for 2-3 minutes





adaugati orezul, amestecati bine



add the rice and stir well to combine

















turnati cam 2,5 cani de apa (puteti, bineinteles, folosi supa de legume sau de pui) si amestecati



pour about 2 1/2 cups of water (can be replaces with vegetable or chicken stock) and stir well







potriviti de sare si piper, reduceti focul, acoperiti cratita si lasati sa fiarba la foc domol pana ce orezul este fiert atat cat va place (cam 20-25 minute). Daca e nevoie, mai adaugati putin lichid.



check the taste for salt and pepper, turn the heat to low, cover the pot and let it cook until the rice is done as you like it (about 20-25 minutes). Add a little bit more liquid, if necessary.
