Soak tamarind in water for few minutes and extract 1.5 cups of thick juice from it. 2. Heat oil in kadai and add mustared seeds followed by cumin seeds and curry leaves, saute for few minutes till you feel the aroma. 3. Now add the crushed garlic (crushed garlic gives strong flavour) and onions and saute till the onion changes in colour slightly. 4. Add the tamarind juice and stir well. Add sambar powder and salt to it. You can add little water if you want the kuzhambu to be little watery, but poondu kuzhambu will be good if it is thick. 5. Close the kadai with lid and allow the kuzhambu to boil till the onion and garlic becomes well cooked. Open the lid and stir occasionally. 6. You can feel the strong aroma of garlic, switch off the stove. 7. Serve it with rice and side dish. related searches : Poondu
