Potluck Brunch

Posted the16/11/2008 By Carrots 'N' Cake (Visit website)

My Sunday morning started with blogging, an iced coffee (with milk and agave nectar), and a piece of toast with Barney Butter (to settle my stomach).

While I blogged, my wonderful and amazing husband cleaned our apartment since we were having guests for brunch. He’s the best! :D

A big brunch was exactly what I needed after a night of wine drinking! Brunch was a group effort this morning– each of our friends brought something to share.

Jacky brought banana nut bread, which was delish! I snacked on a piece while we sipped coffee, chatted, and waited for the rest of brunch to finish cooking.

Josh and Danielle purchased a variety of Entenmann’s coffee cakes and danishes

Jacky also brought fresh strawberries and blueberries, which were an especially nice surprise. I’ve missed fresh fruit so much!

Mr. Mal cooked turkey bacon and scrambled eggs with shredded cheddar

I made a French Toast Souffle, which was soooooo delicious! I made this same recipe a few months ago, but this time, I let the Challah bread soak overnight in the batter. It had so much more French toast flavor this time! :D It sounds like a fancy recipe, but it’s actually very easy to make.

Jon brought champagne for mimosas. When opening the bottle, Mal made sure not to point it towards his face. (This image cracked us up! :) We’re dorks!)

Especially after a heavy night of drinking, champagne was not at all appealing to me. Instead of a usual mimosa pour, mine was made with OJ and a tiny splash of champagne.

Our brunch spread was quite impressive: pastries, banana nut bread, turkey bacon, French toast souffle, cheddar scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, and mimosas. Mmmmmm! I love brunch!

Even with 3 hungry guys, we still had a ton of leftovers!

My plate…

… and, of course, I went back for seconds of the French Toast Souffle. Yuuuummmmm!

It’s not even 5 o’clock yet, but I am already hungry for dinner. Maybe I should just have a snack to hold me over? Hmmmm… all I know is that it’s feeding time again! :)

P.S. Woah, Sunday! Where did you go?!?!?!?
