Quick and Easy Homemade Yoghurt Recipe
Making yoghurt at home is very easy and is much cheaper than buying from the market. Having yoghurt at home is really handy for various purposes. For making yoghurt, you need a starter. If this is your first time making yoghurt, buy a small tub of "thick" plain yoghurt to use as a starter.
Once your yoghurt is ready, keep about 2-3 tablespoons of yoghurt in a fridge to use as a starter for your next batch. This recipe makes about a litre of thick and creamy yoghurt. Ingredients: 900ml warm water About 6-7 tablespoon sugar or according to taste 10 tablespoon full-cream powder milk 2 tablespoon fresh "thick" plain yoghurt. I use Greek-style yoghurt. (this is used as a starter). I once used a different style plain yoghurt as a starter and it didn't form the yoghurt well. So it is very important you choose a right type of yoghurt as a starter. Preparation: Get an air-tight container about 1 litre capacity. Wash it well with hot water. Keep it aside to dry. Put warm water in a saucepan. Add sugar, milk powder and mix them well until they dissolve. Before moving on to the next step, make sure the milk is finger-dip-warm. Pour the milk into the air-tight container. Smooth out the starter yoghurt with a spoon. Mix it with the milk in the air-tight container. Cover the container. Wrap the container with a plastic bag and a towel and keep it in a warm place overnight or for 8-10 hours until the yoghurt is formed. I wrapped the container with a foam wrap and placed it inside a foam box with a cover to keep it warm. Put the yoghurt in the fridge to set it properly.
