Raising the bar
"Who do you want to be when no body is looking?" Simple enough, right? Lisa, my god sent instructor, proposed this question at the start of class. She challenged us to "Raise the bar!" today in class. However, with satya, or truth. Raising the bar doesn't necessarily mean doing more, it may in fact be doing less. Either way, practicing with integrity. After all, only we know when we are cheating ourselves right? This awareness really helped me get the most out of my practice today, as I moved through each posture with the intention of doing it to the best of my ability. Not cheating myself. It's easy to "sink" into your joints when your tired, or jump ahead when your feeling impatient, even preempt a posture out of habit. I really focused on alignment, and intention today, focusing myself on each asana in that moment. Not yesterdays, not tomorrows. I really benefited from today's focused expenditure, taking away some new insight to my practice. With all this new wisdom, came a ravenous appetite. I popped on in my local Crack House for my daily fix. I even raised the bar and splurged on some Sourdough! My favorite! BLT, ala me Tempeh, arugula, tomato, avocado And some juicy pineapple... and maybe a little more juicy pineapple.... ;) I enjoyed my sammie under the sun with some of Momma's magazines Oh how I've missed my Vitamin D! After a little lounging and kitty petting, I hopped on my bike and made my way back to the apartment in all my stinky glory! I even got a "HEY SEXY!" from the nice fisherman on the bridge. Oh, South Florida... In totally unrelated hair news: Holla to all my gym rats and yogis! I found the cutest, and I mean cutest, headbands to tame those pesky bangs and flyaways. Blasphemous outbursts be gone! Step out in style with these Sweaty Bands, a fabric alternative that rivals Miss Waldorf herself! Im snagging myself one as we speak, and by one I mean twenty. Happy Sweating! That's all I got! ...Well, not really, but I'm pacing myself here! Caroline, OUT!
