Are you ever frustrated by all of the cookbooks and magazines that you own that have tons of post it notes hanging out of them, or pages ear-marked for later perusing?? That was me, until a couple months ago when I decided to get down and dirty with my cookbooks and clean them up! You see, I love to collect them and then love to read them and then love to display them, but they have to "look" nice, and that's where this post comes in--it's an effort to make mine and your cookbooks and magazines shelf-worthy!
If you're anything like me, when I get a new cookbook/magazine, I read it like a novel, from cover to cover and that's where all the post-its and page turning come in--I mark every recipe I want to come back to try. But then what--a whole stack of books/magazines with stuff sticking out of them and by the time I get back to them, I have recieved 3 or 4 new magazines in the mail with the same problem. (Nice run-on sentence there, English teacher I am not)
Anyway, so now what I do is to get a sheet of paper and pen and I write the name of the book or magazine on the top and write the page number and the name of the recipes underneath! I then have a glossary of sorts to look through when I need a new recipe instead of having to go through every darn book/magazine trying to find something! I took off all my post-it notes, haven't bent a page in ages and have a great resource for finding the recipes that I want to make. Now I can get to and find all those yummy recipes that I have been saving and just check them off the list once I try them. And best of all, my bookshelves and countertops look really tidy, too! Then you can display your cookbooks and use them as decoration, like this...
