Restoran Oversea - Subang Parade (Subang Jaya) - Non-Halal
We had an early lunch at this restaurant as a farewell gathering to one of our colleagues who is going away to work overseas. We wanted him to enjoy some Chinese dishes knowing for sure its not easy to find Chinese restaurants where he is going to be located. As usual, deciding and discussion before we settled at what to eat. Since the Chinese New Year fever was still in the air, we tried the Fruit Yee Sang with cuttlefish as our first order. Plenty of tiny pieces of fruits of all types including strawberries added with crispy crackers, some herbs and cuttle fish served in a large plate. With the sauces mixed in, all of us gave it a good toss . Fruit yee sang was new to me and in the thrill of tasting it, I forgot to take the picture of this dish with the ingredients mixed together. Nobody could resist the roasted pork which was the next dish placed on the table. Crunchy skin and soft meat melted into my mouth but I did not go very far with this dish not feeling very comfortable noticing the fats below the crunchy skin of the pork. The square pieces of soft tofu with mushrooms were floating in ample sauce. It just crumbled in the mouth with a taste of light sweet soy sauce. Stir fried black beans veges with glass noodles - did not really go well for me as I found it to be on the salty side. My colleague mentioned that its suppose to taste like that due to the black beans in it. Whatever, I just stopped after 1 mouthfull of this dish. We also ordered lamb ribs in dark sauce and were taken back as it was served in individual plates for each one of us, just like how its served at Western restaurants. I found this very creatively presented with little mix veg, salad leaves, tomatoes, two cashew nuts and a pinch of chilly flakes. Wow! one of the best lambs tasted at a Chinese restaurant. Although all of us had a bowl of rice to go with these dishes, none were interested in finishing the rice. Nothing completes a meal without some desserts of course. Since most of us were already full, we ordered one small bowl of red beans with black glutinous rice dessert and one of the peanut soup dessert. Soft beans and glutinous rice topped with coconut milk tasted good, not too sweet for sure. The peanut soup dessert had a combination of strong peanut flavor with a sweet and buttery taste. Since we ordered a small bowl, having just two or three spoons was satisfying. For four of us, we paid about RM275.00 inclusive of free flow of Chinese tea. Look out for this restaurant at G14, Ground floor.
