REVIEW: CAFE' MOROCCO 1221 ALHAMBRA BLVD
![]() Today for lunch I had the pleasure of checking out Cafe' Morocco located at 1221 Alhambra Blvd. This Mediterranean restaurant is nestled in a strip mall near the corner of Alhambra Blvd & Capitol Avenue. As I walked through the door I noticed that the restaurant was clean & cozy. Maybe a dozen tables in the entire place. The server greeted me & told me to have a seat anywhere you want. I grabbed a table near the kitchen & told my server that I would like a diet Coke & a glass of water. She smiled & handed me a menu. Mediterranean music filled the air. There were maybe five or six people seated, eating lunch. I took a look at the well used menu & noticed that Cafe' Morocco had a lot to offer. After a couple of minutes my server brought over my drinks & I continued looking over the lunch selection. Then I spotted what I was going to have for lunch. Listed under the Appetizers section was "Mezzeh #1". It was a combination plate that included: humus, baba ganooj, dolma & falafel. This was served with warm pita bread. At $11.95 this was the perfect lunch! My server returned to my table & I gave her my order. So, I took the place in. There were these bamboo shades covering the windows. I thought that was pretty cool. Lot's of pictures on the walls giving the place a relaxing Mediterranean vibe. Near the kitchen area there were a bunch of framed newspaper articles about the restaurant. Additionally, there were framed items from the from Sacramento News & Review awarding the restaurant "Best of Sacramento" for it's past achievements. After about 15 minutes or so, my server brought over my lunch. I asked her how long they have been here & she responded with "we have been here 27 years". In other words, Cafe' Morocco has endured the test of time. My lunch was excellent! The humus & pita bread were off the hook. The dolma appeared to be freshly made, not something out of a can. The falafel was good & the baba gonooj was unique. And the the green olives were fantastic! Wish I could have got a jar of those olives to go! It was a good first time experience. I noticed on the dinner menu the most expensive thing was the Shish Kabob Combination Dinner for $21.95. This included soup or salad as well as your coffee or soft drink and dessert. This would be a nice relaxing place to have a dinner date. Belly Dancing is featured on Friday & Saturday nights! Reservations are suggested. The restaurant is closed on Sundays for private parties. In closing, the total for my lunch was $15.00 even. I left $20.00 in the little black book & headed home. I give Cafe' Morocco 3 out of 4 stars. Will I go back? Oh yes, for sure! If you go to Cafe' Morocco, tell them you read about their place on Sacramento Blog Uncut. Thanks! ******** related searches : Review
