Rice Cereal Treats
![]() This is a classic favorite the Rice Crispy Treat. They are a staple at parties and so easy to make. This was also the first dessert/treat I figured out I could make for my son. However, with a milk allergy my son can't have just ANY old rice crispy treat, they have to be made with a dairy free margarine and egg free marshmallows. So I make this one of my dishes to bring to parties and usually everyone is eating them so fast I hide a couple in my bag. The margarine I use are Earth Balance or Fleischmann's Unsalted sticks. These do not contain any milk and taste just like butter. Also, I bet you didn't know marshmallows can contain egg whites (sometimes listed as albumen) so make sure to check the labels and use only egg- free marshmallows, Kraft Jet-Puffed is what I typically use. Ingredients: 3 Tbsp. milk free margarine 1 10.5 oz package Egg free Marshmallows 6 cups Crispy Rice Cereal Prepare a 9x13 pan by coating with margarine. I like to use the outer foil from the margarine stick to smooth it around the bottom and the sides, my grandma taught me that little trick. In a large pot melt 3 tbsp. of margarine over low heat. Once melted add the marshmallows and stir until melted and smooth. Add cereal about 2 cups at a time until all the cereal is coated with marshmallows. I like to keep the pot over the low heat as it seems to coat the cereal easier just make be careful not to let anything sit over the heat too long. After cereal is incorporated remove from heat and scoop the cereal mixture into the pan. Using a piece of wax paper coated with margarine press the mixture down into the pan evenly. Let the mixture cool for at least an hour before cutting into squares. Store in a covered container if they last that long! Enjoy! related searches : Rice
