Roasted apple with short crust pastry


I found this recipe on a French recipes book. And as soon as i tried it, i became a fan! It is a very simple recipe, easy to do and cheap. It can be served alone or with some ice-cream or simply some wipped cream next to it.


This was a very pleasant surprise and the first time i did it i had some friends chez moi having dinner. Everybody loved it and since then it has become a topic of discussion every time we decide to eat together. I hope you enjoy it!



Roasted apple with short crust pastry

Ingredients

6 large apples
Short crusty pastry
Sugar q.b.
Cinnamon q.b.



Method

1 Start by unpealing the apples. Then, cut them in half and remove the seeds.


2 Next, you have to decide wheter you will do the short crusty pastry yourself, or if you will buy it ready on the supermarket. It is up to you, but of course that doing it yourself takes some work. Anyway, if you decide to make it yourself, on a separate bowl add some flour, one egg and a little bit of cooking oil. You can also add a bit of sugar. Mix it all very well. If you are doing this for the first time, it is not that straighforward, but keep trying until you find the right consistency.


3 Then, pour some sugar and a little bit of cinnamon on the apples. Make sure that both sugar and cinnamon stays on the apples.


4 Then, it is time to wrap the apples on the short crusty pastry. First, cut the pastry to you have enough area to cover the whole apple. Then, wrap each apple with the pastry and close it very well. Then, on a baking tray, dispose all the apples with a gap in-between each of of them. Finally, put some sugar and cinammon on top of each wrapped apple.


5 Then, put the tray in the oven at a medium temperature and let it cook for a while. Keep checking the oven until the top of the apples gets a darker colour and they look well done.


6 It is then ready to be served. You can serve the apples alone or with some ice-cream. Or simply, with a little bit o whipped cream.
