Scratch Made: Pumpkin Spice Latte

By Bran Appetit (Visit website)

Two weeks ago, while I was home visiting family, I had my first pumpkin latte from Starbucks. Now I know why people love it so much.

Sweet and spicy. Comforting. Full of fall flavors.

And after finding a few recipes and instructions online, I decided I should just make my own and save some money!

The best part?

The syrup takes almost NO time to make!

I had this cooking on the stovetop Sunday evening while I was working on dinner and helping with the house cleaning.

Pumpkin Syrup

Original Recipe from Julie at Savvy Eats

1/3 cup pumpkin puree (fresh or canned)
1/2 cup vanilla sugar + 1/2 cup regular sugar (if you don?t have vanilla sugar, just add 1/2 tsp vanilla to the recipe)
1.25 cups water
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp ground ginger

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Cook over medium heat, stirring to keep the syrup from burning. Let the mixture cook together until it?s starting to coat the spoon (about 10 minutes) and remove from heat.

Store in a heat proof container in the fridge.

Heat syrup with coffee or milk before mixing into coffee.

Thanks to my Nespresso Frother from an earlier review with CSN, I mixed my pumpkin syrup with some extra strong Honduran coffee and frothed local milk.

I love the addition of the vanilla + ginger. It gave it even more flavor and added a little more depth to the drink.

My homemade pumpkin ?latte? was the perfect drink to start my week with. I can?t wait to have another!

I also found another Pumpkin Spice Latte-at-Home recipe, thanks to my sister.

The one at Vanilla & Lace looks delicious ? I?d love to find the pumpkin spice soymilk she used in her recipe! Plus, she mixes hers in a jar, so it?s even more fun.

Thanks to CSN, I?ve been able to hold some fun giveaways and review this frother in the past. And I?ll get to do another review soon! The hard part? Choosing what to review! CSN seriously has everything from milk frothers to bath towels to dining chairs and bed frames! Decisions, decisions?
