Sexual Health Day
Just got back from Plymouth today, 1 hour away from Torquay. Had quite a good achievement today, my group mates and I set up a sexual health booth at flagship Boots in Drake Circus
We tried to raise awareness on sexual health issues, and handed out 100 chlamydia testing kits in 1 hour!! Great isn’t it? At least some might get themselves tested, and who knows, 1 or 2 may have chlamydia without knowing, good thing is, if realised early, get treatment, no complications. Most of the times, chlamydia does not present with signs and symptoms, so if one is sexually active and having more than 1 partner or have changed partner recently , it is always best to check and protect themselves and their partners. It is definately not an embarassing thing, it is so normal right? When we approach the younger generations, they tend to react 1st saying ‘no I dont need it, I havn’t got chlamydia’. Anyway the treatment is antibiotic, either a weeks treatment with doxycycline or a single dose treatment with azithromycin. So go grab yourself a free kit in a pharmacy, get a sample, and send it out to the labs, you should get a result in 2 weeks time. Be chlamydia-free!
