Showtime!

By Roses are Red (Visit website)

On Friday, Mikey and I headed off to the annual Royal Adealide Show. I always look forward to the show each year, when i was younger my family use to buy a members pass and visit 3-4 times each year! These days one day is plenty enough for me.

My favourite parts are looking at the dogs, cats, handicrafts, cooking, flower displays and fashion prade. This year I took some photos to share with you!

I thought this cake was so sweet, it says 'unite the world' and has the cutest little fondant kiddies dressed up as animals around the edge.

This cake I thought was quite amazing, firstly because it does not look like a cake and secondly, the design of having coloured butterflies in place of hair.

They also had a cake section of mini wedding cakes, this one had a panda theme and lots of mini pandas between they layers, so cute!

This mini wedding cake was my favourite. It has a fondant church on top, isnt it beautiful!?

This gorgeous tea cup and plate is handpainted with a fuschia design, just amazing what some people can do isnt it. It actually won first prize in the category.

They had this adorable little table set up to advertise a book and nursery. Im in love with the chairs with the pink velvet cushions!

This is the book that was being advertised. It has some lovely recipes inside from cakes to savory tarts, i was thinking of buying it.

My favourite ride...i like it because of all the paintings on the top, which you cant see too well in this photo.

Although I like walking past the rides, im not too keen on making myself sick and wasting my money going on them!

This year they had a big section with various types of bulbs, they were so beautiful and colourful!

This year the fashion parade featured the wearable blooms collection. Not everyday wear, i think perhaps more suitable to wear to a costume party. Wouldnt it be fun to have a party where everyone is dressed as a flower! They even had male costumes, i dont think Mikey would be convinced. More photos of the wearable blooms can be seen here.

The only thing really bought was this pair of knee high bed socks! Theyre so cute and warm :)

In my last post, I mentioned that I made potato salad for the birthday celebration I attended.

My mum's side of the family is german, and ive been eating my aunties german potato salad since I was a kid, until i stopped eating dairy.

So ive made my own verion of their potato salad!

German Potato Salad

6 potatoes, peeled and diced
mayonnaise (i used 97% fat free praise which is amazingly dairy and egg free!)
1-2 tblespoons Dried dill
1 teaspoon seeded mustard
2 teaspoons lemon juice
fresh parsley, chopped
2 large dill pickles, diced finely
3 slices onion diced finely
1/4 apple, peeled, diced finely
Salt
Pepper

My aunties usually put diced boiled egg and sometimes bacon in theirs, but i of course didnt put these in.

- First boil the diced potatos until JUST tender, otherwise they will go mushy when you mix with the mayo.
- Drain potatos and rinse with cold water.
- When potatos are almost cool, all remaining ingredients and mix through carefully.
- I think it tastes best at room temperature, but refridgerate before serving.
