Slow food market
right now, i’m probably on a plane to spain (mainly in the rain), but i wanted to talk a little bit about this great market we went to on saturday for lunch. it was right near waterloo station / south bank, and even though it was raining most of the day, the weather cleared up just enough for us to enjoy this outdoor market for a couple of hours. it was the slow food market, which descends on the south bank once each month for a weekend. in addition to fruit and veg stalls, it was mostly prepared food to take with you and enjoy on the chilly november afternoon. i squealed with delight when i found an old favourite! hooray for the veggie table! we enjoyed our veggie burgers with lentils and hummus while standing around and people-watching. yummmm. phil wandered around taking photos, like this one (he loves puddles) of me, my mom, and my friend suzanne. perfect that right next door to that stall was a dessert lady with her store called sugargrain, and most of her cakes and treats were gluten-free! mom thoroughly enjoyed her marshmallow on a stick, while i chose a couple of raw cacao chocolates sweetened with agave. look how cute it is! it is dusted with edible silver! i couldn’t say no to something described as a “healthy chocolate”. the next slow food weekend happens right before christmas, so i highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area. ok, next post will be muy especial from the shores of espana, so look out for that tomorrow!
