Smooth Sweet Tea
I will admit when I came across this recipe I thought the poster must be insane then I started reading the reviews. When you see 300 reviews with nothing but raves you know it has to be good so I was willing to try it. The baking soda may be a weird thing you have never heard of but trust me after making it I am hooked. It takes away that bitter aftertaste and heaviness of the tea. Do not worry it does not effect the tea at all just enhances it. I was so excited after trying it that I wanted to tell my momma. I was also a bit scared if there is one thing you do not do that is try to tell a Southern woman how to make tea, you just may get slapped. LOL! I never thought my sweet tea could get better. 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 2 cups boiling water 6 regular sized tea bags 3/4 cup white sugar 6 cups cool water 1. In a 2-quart saucepan boil 2 cups water. Remove pan from heat and place teabags and baking soda. Allow to steep for 15 minutes. Throw tea bags in trash and add sugar, stir until dissolved. In a pitcher add cold water then pour tea mixture in pan, mix. Refrigerate. Adapted from allrecipes
