Spinach & Moong Dal Gravy
Spinach - 1 bunchMoong Dal - 1/2 cupCumin Seeds - 1 tspGarlic - 2 to 3 clovesTurmeric Powder - 1/4 tspMustard Seeds - 1/2 tspUrad Dal -1/4 tspCurry leaves - 4 to 5 nosGreen chillies - 2 nosDry Red Chillies - 1 noOnions(finely chopped)- 1/4 cupOil - 1 tspCoconut Milk(thick) - 1 to 2 tsp (Optional)Salt to Taste First cook the 1/2 cup of moong dal with 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder in a pressure cooker leave it for 2 to 3 whistles & keep this ready ( if u don't have a pressure cooker ,u can cook the 1/2 cup moong dal in a pan with 3/4 cup of water until its cooked well.) .Wash & finely chop the spinach & keep it ready .Heat oil in a pan & add mustard seeds ,allow it to splutter .Then add the urad dal , cumin seeds , dry red chilli followed by slit garlic & roast it until it leaves aroma . Now add the finely chopped onions , slit green chillies , curry leaves & saute for a while till it turns tender . Then add the finely chopped spinach & saute well for about 5 to 6 mins. Now add the cooked moong dal along with required amount of water & salt , allow it to boil for about 5 to 6 mins in a low flame. Now add the coconut milk & boil for about 5 mins in low flame (coconut milk is optional).Check for salt & spice (if want extra green chillies while its boiling). This goes well with White Rice , chapathi's............ While cooking Spinach do not cover the pan with the lid ......Just my small tip....... related searches : Spinach
