Spirit of the Mistress: Mushroom Cakes

It was suggested to me that I go tramp in the woods to find some mushrooms. While I love mushrooms I don't like trudging through the forest....too many Scotch/Irish lurking in the woods...not poaching lol. I used to do a lot of it...but this is more my style. Art immitating life. If I ever saw mushrooms like these in the woods I would probably run the other way..and quick. I can calmly eat these knowing that it is not of a dubious nature. So instead of tramping around the woods I perused Flickr for some beautiful cakes that even a mushroom lover can enjoy!!! Funny story about me, mushrooms, and fond family memories in camping. One day my dad gets this idea that we are going to go camping in Kurt Gowdy, Wyoming. Only living in Cheyenne it wasn't too far away. Kurt Gowdy is a reservoir...why does Wyoming have a reservoir? Because its basically desert. Now while I love the outdoors I do enjoy my bed and (back then) the Disney Channel. But I was too little to protest. So we flew kites. Which was fun to a point. The agony of getting them up in the air is interesting especially when trying to dodge shrubbery. Well in my travels I found a bunch of mushrooms. They were so cute! Back then I thought the smurfs lived under mushrooms lol. Here comes my big brother. He plants his size 11 shoe right on the mushrooms. I started crying at the top of my lungs. The tried to calm me down and explain that the smurfs had moved right before he squished their houses. My brother had to appologize. The worst thing was he laughed when he did it. Grrr. So when I think of mushrooms I think of the smurfs..oh yeah and Mario Brothers.
