Split Green Gram Dal and Black chickpea Rice(Moong-Kala Chana khichadi)
U need- Split Green Gram-1/2 cup Long Grain Rice-1 cup Black chickpea-1/2 cup(soaked overnight) 2-3 finely chopped green chillies 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste1 finely chopped medium size tomato 2 finely chopped medium size onions 5-6 curry leaves 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 1/2 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 tsp asofoetida 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 1/2 tsp garam masala powder 2 tbsp desi ghee/clarified butter water as needed..around 4 cups handful of chopped coriender leaves(cilantro) salt to taste variations-can add potato/carrot with chana Method- Soak moong dal and rice for 15 minutes. Heat ghee in pressure cooker Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and allow to splutter. Now add asofoetida and curry leaves and green chillies. Then add onions. Saute onions till transluscent. Add ginger-garlic paste and saute for 2-3 minutes. Now add chopped tomatoes and saute till the tomatoes are mashed. Add the powdered masalas. add black chickpeas.. When ghee starts leaving sides, add the soaked rice and moong dal and water. Add salt to taste and stir in the chopped coriander. Cover and pressure cook (3 whistles) The consistency should be slightly liquidy.Serve with yoghurt.. this split green gram and black chikpea rice dish goes to susans awesome MLLA23 event... related searches : Split
