Staying focus...

By Bitter Sweet Flavours (Visit website)

It's two weeks before finals and I'm not done with poster presentation coming up next week.
Hope to get it over with as soon as possible, get my butts off the chair and no more excuses.
I've recovered partially from my insomnia. A little more laid back for the weekend, though I know I'm going nowhere.

Still, I made some time for gym. I believe it helps me stay focused, and a clearer mind to start studying (and also a bigger appetite!).

Choy Sum with Ginger Sauce @ Crystal Jade Pavilion KL

Mum and I are huge vege eaters. We finish a pack of vege for dinner every night. I never used to eat vege when I was young. I guess I'm pretty much a changed person now. As much as I love the ginger sauce, I always prepare my Gai-Lan (Chinese Broccoli/Chinese Kale) or sometimes Choy Sum (Chinese Cabbage) the same ol' way. It's simple, quick and easy.

Gai-Lan (or Choy Sum) with Oyster Sauce Recipe
(serves 2 - recipe by my mum)

1 bunch/packet of Choy sum/Gai-lan
1 Tbsp oil
2 Tbsp Oyster sauce

Generous portion of oil
4 cloves of garlic, chopped

Sesame oil (optional)

Method:
Heat up oil in a saucepan or wok. Fry garlic until it is golden in colour. Set aside.

Wash and soak choy sum in salt water for 5mins. Rinse and drain water away. I usually cut them into smaller pieces to be easier to be eaten, but it's up to you.

Fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil. Add in oil and vegetables. Simmer until the vegetable is tender -bright green in colour. Remove vegetables from water and transfer them into a serving plate.

Drizzle over oyster sauce, prepared garlic and sesame oil as desired.

I can never get sick of cod when it comes to dinner time... with wolfberries, ginger and aromatic fried shallots. Simply healthy and delicious! Recipe here.

Ofcourse, my visit to Crystal Jade @ Pavilion has not ended right there. I absolutely love their mixed grain fried rice. Not too oily, sounds convincingly healthy, looks really good and comes in a generous portion. Mum and I had to ta pau (pack, in Malaysian Cantonese dialect) the rest home. The roasted chicken tasted as good as it looks. Just that some parts were pretty salty to me. Maybe they've forgotten to rub salt all over. Well, errors happen all the time when it comes to cooking. Humans make mistakes, just like how I do.. always.
