Sunshine, weddings and coconuts

By Bake Bike Blog (Visit website)

I just returned from a wonderful weekend in Sydney, where Mr BBB and I had travelled to celebrate our friends? wedding. We were lucky enough to have nothing but sunshine the whole trip!

What we didn?t have, however, was internet access, so this is probably going to end up quite a big post!

The day before the wedding ? the guests were invited to a BBQ (and  to play a few games of lawn bowls) at a gorgeous bowling club overlooking the ocean.

While my lawn bowls skills may have left a lot to be desired, we had a lot of fun!

It was also a great opportunity to mingle and meet some of the guests before the wedding :)

After a quick shower to freshen up, we headed out to a local establishment with our new found friends for a little ?pub grub? for dinner.

Mr BBB ordered the pub staple ? chicken parma.

And I chose the grilled chicken ? which came with a tomato relish and generous serve of fries. I was starving after our day in the sun ? so there was not much left on this plate after I was finished :)

After dinner we went for a wander around the town and came across a gorgeous gelato store. When Mr BBB and I were in Italy a few years ago we would end almost every evening with a serve of gelato.

After some serious deliberation, I settled on the coconut and was in no way disappointed. It was creamy and delicious ? with flakes of coconut throughout.

The next morning we were up bright and early and wandered into town for some breakfast. We settled on this place ? that seemed to have a good vibe.

After a generous mug of coffee, our breakfasts were served. Eggs Benedict for BBB, and a huge serving of porridge for me.

The porridge had a good flavour, but were too runny for my liking. The serving size was also HUGE ? so I only probably got through half or so of this bowl.

After breakfast we continue or explore of the town, and enjoyed just wandering along the beach front.IMG_1651

We then dashed back to our hotel to get ready for the main event!

The wedding ceremony was held on a hill  which overlooked the ocean. We arrived to the sounds of a string quartet ? which really set the scene of what was to be an elegant ceremony. Not long after the bride arrived, and she looked simply stunning!

The ceremony was short, yet meaningful, and it was lovely to bear witness to two of our close friends making such a special commitment.

While the happy couple went off to have their professional photos taken, we sipped on champagne and enjoyed the gorgeous scenery! Oh and enjoyed the ?windswept? look when the breeze sprung up!

The reception was held in a nearby hall, which was decorated beautifully.

I even managed to sneak a couple photos of the gorgeous wedding cake ? so divine!

We had a wonderful time at the reception ? and literally danced the night away! I woke with a little bit of a sore head the next morning ? but nothing too bad?all things considered.

Soon we were back in the car, and back to reality (ie work). Although I am comforted by the fact that there are only a few days left until the Christmas break? gotta love that!

Happy baking :)
