Superbowl-Friendly Recipes

By Oven Love (Visit website)

Have I mentioned that I'm a HUGE Steelers fan?
Well, I am.  Steeler Nation, baby!  Don't be jeal.

And just so you know I'm not a bandwagon jumper..
Example A: Photo of me dancing in my dad's Steelers tee, which I have since stolen and STILL wear, circa 1980 something.

I don't play.

That being said, it is game on against these Packers and every good fan needs good food to stay focused during the big game.  Here are some of my favorite game-appropriate treats to keep up your stamina while you're cheering for the Steelers:

If you're already a guac person, this recipe takes it to the next level.

My light chili is pictured, but I also have a great recipe for red bean chili and cornbread waffles for you to check out, too.  This is a perfect choice if you're hosting a large crowd and need to fill them up without days of preparation.

I'm considering making and taking these along to the party we're attending (in addition to some sweets).  They'll add something a little healthier to your Superbowl table without sacrificing taste.

  Baked Sweet Onion Dip
Let's just be honest- this dip is awful for you in every way, but it could not taste better.  If you're considering food suicide, this one's for you.

These burritos are a great idea if you want little mess and easy clean up.  Who wants to fiddle with a fork and knife during the game?

Another healthier option the ladies might appreciate.  But be careful- once the guys agree to taste them, they'll be gone in minutes.

Soft Pretzels
This is my go-to recipe for soft pretzels.  For the game, I'd make them bite size and serve with mustard or cheese dip.  Feels just like being at the stadium (but you get to keep those few thousand dollars you'd spend on tickets).

Mexican Stuffed Poblano Peppers
Anything cheesy and Mexican-style is usually a crowd pleaser.  These would be a perfect to pop in during the second quarter and serve during the half-time show.

Chocolate and peanut butter are always a winning combo.
These World Peace cookies are sure to bring everyone together in a house divided (not that there will be anyone cheering for the Packers).  Be sure to make a double batch of these- they go fast.

  Homemade Hostess Cupcakes
Last, but not least.. a homemade version of Hostess' classic chocolate cupcake.  Irrestistible, aren't they?  I recommend making a yellow swirl for Black & Gold cupcakes.

I hope you have a little more inspiration for Sunday.
Go Steelers!
