Sweet (Vella) Appam and Vella Dosa Recipe
Here comes a two-in-one recipe from Nits' Kitchen! Sweets made of jaggery are perfect cos its healthy as well as tasty and not too sweet for people like me with no sweet tooth at all.. The Sweet Appam made with jaggery is a perfect sweet cum snack recipe made for many festivals in South India and yea can be easily converted into a dosa wen u don have the Appam making kadai/pan. Now that's a quick and easy, yummy and healthy recipe that kids love for an evening snack. So here we go first...
Ingredients for both Wheat Flour (Atta) - 1 cup Rice flour - 1/2 cup Coconut - cut into tiny bits - hand ful Banana (optional) - 1 medium sized Jaggery - 1 cup Powdered cardamom (elatchi) - 1 tsp Oil to deep fry Sweet Appam (Vella Appam) Recipe from Nits' kitchen Dissolve jaggery in boiling water and filter the solution. Boil the jaggery water now and bring a medium consistency. Add all the other ingredients together in a separate bowl, mash well, add the jaggery water and make a semi-thick batter. Grease the cups in the appam pan with little ghee. Pour the batter into each cup and add oil to fry. Turn sides and remove when it turns brown. Sweet Dosa (Vella Dosa) Recipe from Nits' kitchen Follow the same method as in the Appam until you form the batter. Make the batter jus a tiny bit more liquidy so it is in dosa consistency. You may add a pinch of salt if you like, but its nto mandatory. Take the Dosa tawa and pour the batter in a circle, just like a normal dosa. Use a tsp of oil or ghee on it. Turn sides and remove when brown. You can make the Appams even without the appam maker, by deep frying small balls of the batter into a pan of hot oil. Dosa is a more healthier option tho, Appam is the best to indulge on special occasions! related searches : Sweet
