This is again my moms recipe..As Saawan/Shravan starts fasting days starts so does the treat days.We love eating this yummy thalipeeth like other fasting food -Samo Dosas(recipe coming soon),potato peanut sabzi,sweet potato kheer,sago pudding,samo rice and peanut dal,peanut ladoo and many others.my mom makes different variations with sago and samo right from appetizer to desserts.(Sago/Samo cute names though).Yes eating all this is a treat on fasting days.anyways u dont eat this everyday ,once in a while.thats fine.right???or else fruits n juices r always welcome in my kitchen..I always remember my 6yrs old nephew when i make these...he just loves this with plain curd.
Sabudana / Sago - 1 cups,washed and soaked overnight
Potatoes - 2 med (boiled and mashed and grated)..
Roasted crushed peanuts - 1/4 cup
Hung Curd/Yoghurt-2 tblsp
Singoda Flour/Samo Flour/Rajgira Flour-3 tblsp each..or as reqd to make a dough
1 Cucumber(peeled and grated)squeeze out the water
Paste-Roasted cumin powder-1 tsp,Green chillies - 2-3,ginger-1/4 tsp,cilantro leaves-1/4 cup
Salt/Sugar/Lemon juice to taste
Ghee/Clarified Butter-as reqd
Wash sago well and soak in some water for 5-6 hrs or preferably overnight.
Take a big bowl put sago add all the ingredients except ghee(cucumber,potato,flours,paste,roasted peanuts,yoghurt,salt,sugar,lemon juice.mix all well into a soft dough.
Cover with a plastic wrap and in the fridge for 10-15mins.
Heat nonstick griddle on med flame.
Take a platic sheet.brush with some water ,now take a ball (size u want )of the dough and place on the plastic sheet.
Press n pat the dough ball with ur fingers n palms til u get a round circle of 5" diameter(dont make it too thin,or else it wil break). Keep pressing til u get a proper circular shape like a puri.
Slowly lift it from the plastic sheet n place on hot griddle, pour drops of ghee around it and let it cook until its crisp on both sides.
Serve with plain curd/cucumber raita/coconut chutney/potato peanut sabzi.
1)Can use any of the flours ifu dont hv all the three...or can omit flours totally and increase the quantity of peanut powder and potato.
2)Nonfasting days,use cooked mashed peas or grated bottlegourd instead of cucumber.
3)Can use sweet potato instead of potato
4)Replace green chillies with red chilly powder.Reduce the green chillies if making for kids.
5)Size-Can make as big as tortilla/chapati or as small as patty.
