Tastes

By The Kitchen Minions (Visit website)

I got a really great surprise last week when my friend Rachel called out of the blue and said she was in town and would like to meet.  yay!  Rachel and I worked together in DC at my last job before moving to Denver.  I haven?t seen her in like six months.  So it was great to be able to catch up!

She wanted something different from conference food and so I thought some tapas would be appropriate.  I decided to finally check out Tastes, a tapas place in Uptown Denver.  We decided to share a number of tapas, starting with the brie stuffed dates.  Wrapped in Jamon Serrano (Cured
Ham) w/ a Balsamic Reduction.

We also got the Brillat Savarin French Triple Crème Cow?s Milk, which came with strawberries and bread.

Man this cheese was good!  And the strawberries were perfectly ripe.  So good!  Our second round was all pasta.  We ordered the Butternut Squash w/ Sage Butter Ravioli.  These were tasty, but not as memorable as the other pasta we ordered.

The other pasta dish was the 5 Cheese w/ Basil Pesto Saccotini.  I usually don?t love the pesto as much at restaurants but this was the perfect amount and the perfect flavors.

The pesto looks terrible in this picture!

The droid just doesn?t always do food justice!  Oh well.  We finished the meal off with the Bing Cherries & Sour Cream Meatballs.

These were good, I wasn?t sure what I was expecting, the meatballs were spicier than I thought and the cherries weren?t as sweet as I had thought they?d be.  But it was good.Overall Tastes was fun, the food was delicious.  The happy hour looks pretty good too.  I think I?ll stop by a little earlier next time!

After dinner Rachel and I went to Sweet Action (I think I have a sweet action addiction)  And we both got the blackberry lavender flavor.  Yum!  I still have not been disappointed by a flavor at this place.

After we got the ice cream we walked around South Broadway and stumbled into an Underground Music Festival.  It was kind of fun to see how active the area was.  It wasn?t my type of music but it?s fun to be around so much energy.

What is the craziest ice cream flavor that you enjoy?
