The Big Apples
It's looking like I might get only 1 more run in this week. Yesterday, today and hopefully Friday. Rain is on the way for tomorrow and Thursday.
The past 2 mornings have been about 45 degrees and thanks to my head band thingy that covers my ears and my el cheapo gloves, I've been comfortable. Who would have thought that dressing appropriately for the weather would make such a difference! Monday was pouring rain. Almost all day. Tuesday and today, on my run I saw people had their sprinklers going. WTF? Yesterday was weigh in day and there's nothing to see here. Move along. I'm test kitchening this week so I have been in several grocery stores lately and frequently! I've noticed that this years crop of apples seem to be on steroids! Have you seen them? Seriously? I don't think I've ever seen such large apples! This one is a fuji and it weighed 1.59 pounds and cost $1.49! Just for 1 apple! Of course I could feed my whole family with it! It's not only fuji apples, I saw large jonagold and winesap and honeycrisp. One trip in the store there was a container of slices to try. I usually don't take food from those things (bleugh!) but my curiosity got the best of me and I grabbed one. The sign above it stated it was crisp and sweet. yeah, right! It was! And I didn't notice that I glowed in the dark after I ate that slice! How many calories would an apple the size of a canteloupe be? Or WW points? Would the thin slice I had at the store be 1 point? I like apples but the ones I eat are small enough to eat at one sitting and don't make me feel like taking a nap when I'm done! Will these giant apples still keep the Doctor away?
