The Mark by Jean Georges
![]() The latest addition to the Upper East Side, Madison Avenue to be more precise, eateries would by The Mark by Jean-Georges. The restaurant has received a lot of hype before its actually opened and has actually been portrayed as the new place to "see and be seen" on the Upper East Side. Well let me tell you its not, but it is one of the rather trendy restaurants about 60th Street. The restaurant itself seats about 90 people plus a small lounge in the front. The Mark is of course a very elegant restaurant with a giant wine case along the wall of the main dining area and bright Venetian glass columns through out the restaurant. The Mark appeals mainly to the guests staying in the hotel as well as people who live in the area. The menu features modern American dishes with a French twist on them. The prices aren't high, but just right for the area as there were maybe one or two items on the menu that reached or exceeded $30. I had The Mark Burger since I had heard about it in a magazine (which magazine I can not recall at the moment). It was a burger with brie and a black truffle dressing served with a side of fries. Though I completely, 100% enjoyed the Black Label Burger better at Minetta Tavern, I must say this was a decent burger that was just as good as what Primehouse serves (you can't really compare it to the Shake Shack or Burger Joint). Though I did enjoy my lunch at The Mark, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. I'd much rather get the $28 Prix-Fixe lunch menu at Cafe Boulud which is just down the block as the food is better and at least I get two courses instead of one. The Mark by Jean-Georges is good to check out once or twice but its nothing to rave about and are better options in the Upper East Side. ![]()
