The Sacred Valley

By The Flourishing Foodie (Visit website)

Yes, I'm in Peru. I know, it's awesome.

I got here on Sunday, it's now Tuesday. Time flies when you're having fun.

I managed to beat the soroche (altitude sickness). Brent (husband) and Jaguar (friend) weren't so lucky.

They've been trying to beat the soroche with coca mate (pictured below). Coca mate = coca leaves + hot water. I'm not sure it works. I think it's some sort of folk lore/old wives tale.

How did I beat the soroche, you ask? Shallow yoga breathing, no physical exertion, lots of water, small carbohydrate dense meals, and no alcohol.

Besides that, I was just made for the mountains.

Today husband is better but friend is not. I feel bad. It's been 3 days, and still no Jaguar movement.

Double Yum. Peruvian food is amazing. Vegetarian friendly, healthy, colourful. What more could you ask for.

I love the quinoa, potatoes, avocado, corn, cheese, bread, empanadas, and pastries.

It's so awesome - eating every 2-3 hours, just because the food is so good. I just can't get enough.

Hmmmm, lets see. What else have I done.

Met a little girl with a tiny goat.

Tried to speak a little Spanish.

Played in, on, and around some ruins.

Drank a pisco sour and realized that I didn't like.

Here's a picture of husband trying to be stealthy on some ruins.

Here is a picture of some more ruins in Ollantaytambo.

Today, we are here, in Ollantaytambo. It is pretty.

Here in Ollantaytambo, there is a bar, with fireman's pole, and a swing.

It is described as treehouse meets circus meets batman. I will go tonight and give you details.

Here in Peru, there are lots of people. Lot of people wearing cool looking clothing.

All I want to do is take pictures of people, but I determined that this may be creepy.

I don't want to look like a crazy gringo stalker paparazzi maniac. Instead, I wait until they're not looking. I know, I am crazy.

Well, this is enough information for now.

I will report back in a couple of days. I will have much more to share.

It will be great. I can't wait to talk to you soon.

Adios me amigos.
