“Oh my gosh, there are so many things I want to do today.”
- One of my favorite quotes. One of John’s least favorite. {This is your warning: expect total randomness from me today.} So I’m feeling a little hyperactive! Maybe it’s because I’m riding an endorphin high from a killer workout. Or maybe it’s because people have been leaving some really awesome comments on my posts that make me smile really big. Or maybe it’s just because today is one of those days when the glass is half full and I’m relishing in it. OR, maybeeee, it’s because I had a delicious breakfast in bed while basking in the sunlight this morning. Yeah, maybe that’s it. I was craving something fairly light this morning since I snacked a little bit before bed last night. So, I opted for an egg fiesta and half a grapefruit with coffee. Egg fiestas never let me down. They have a nice crunch from the toast. A subtle earthiness from the flax seed. A punch of protein from the fluffy eggs. A spicy kick from the salsa. And a dash of saltiness from the parmesan. It’s really a perfect melding of flavors in my opinion. I also like that it’s not too filling and still allows for a small snack before lunch if I wish. Alongside my fiesta I got my fruit on, tangy style. And as I was hacking away at my grapefruit with my oversized spoon trying not to get squirt in the eye, I remembered that grapefruit and pears were the only two fruits my mom could ever get me to eat when I was little. Maybe it was because I was picky, or maybe it was because I had good taste. I’m going to go with the latter. And oh yes, there was coffee. Two mugs worth. Rejoice! OHHHHH, maybe that’s why I’m going a little crazy today… Tangent: this song makes me happy. Care to listen? If yes, I recommend doing so at a loud volume. Post breakfast I went to the gym with no real plan in mind. Actually, that’s not true. While I was walking there I thought, “I should try and run six miles today.” And then 3 minutes after I stepped on the treadmill, I realized that wasn’t going to happen. I was lacking the gusto and my knee hasn’t been agreeing with my running habit lately, so I’ll give it a rest for now. I did end up doing 5 miles though, but it took me an hour. And that’s OK with me. I wasn’t in a big hurry anyways. I did the most random interval workout ever, including some walking, some running and lots and lots of incline work. I had the incline at 8 or 10 most of my workout and I’m definitely feeling the burn from that now. After I showed up the treadmill I skipped over the stair mill and got seriously defeated. That thing is so hard! I only lasted ten minutes again, but that was OK since I’d already put in a good effort during my interval workout. After a good stretch I headed home and ate a cow. A brown cow. Brown Cow Smoothie serves one 1/4 old fashioned oats 3/4 cup milk (I used half almond half skim) 1 Tbsp. protein powder (I used soy) 1/3 cup frozen blackberries 3/4 frozen banana 1 1/2 cups raw spinach Don’t hate on the brown cow before you try it. Even though it looks gross, it’s delicious. The only downside is it gives you a brown mustache when you’re drinking it. But a little public humiliation is OK with me. It’s worth it for the nutrients. ———————————————————————————————————- As I’ve mentioned on previous posts, John and I recently watched the entire collection of Seinfeld on Netflix and reeeaaally enjoyed it. It was something we looked forward to every night and were so sad when it all came to an end. There were so many episodes that had me laughing to the point of tears. It was just a great sitcom, period. Perhaps my all-time favorite. In one episode called “The Letter” Catherine Keener plays a guest role as Jerry’s artist girlfriend. It wasn’t particularly one of my favorite episodes comedy wise, but there was just something about Catherine’s character that was so artsy and carefree and naturally beautiful. And I have since found myself thinking of her style and trying to copy it. This isn’t the best picture, but you can kinda get the idea… I just adore her wild, loose, voluminous side ponytail and bright red lipstick. I’m in style love! Plus, it doesn’t hurt that Catherine is aboslutely beautiful. Even in her older years, I find her just stunning. ![]() I hope I look like that when I’m older. She’s a girl after my own hippie-loving soul. I decided to mimic her look from Seinfeld today: wavy side ponytail, natural make up and bright lipstick. ![]() So fun. ![]() Not quite like Catherine, but I can aspire… ———————————————————————————————————————– NEWS: Last night I updated my Food and Recipes page, my About page and my Blogroll. Check them out if you wish. I added pictures to all of my recipes so you can see what they look like before you click them. Organization for the win! Alright, that’s all for now. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you’re having a fabulous Thersdee. See you soon, - Dana - QUESTION: Are there any celebrities whose style you admire? And have you tried to mimic their style? Besides Catherine Feeney, not really. Although I do also find Kate Hudson’s simple style very appealing. How was your Thursday? Good, bad, ugly? Mine’s going well so far. As mentioned before, I’ve been kind of hyper today, so that usually helps boost my mood no matter what kind of day I’m having : )
