Thoroughly Thursday Gadgets & Gizmos: Kitchen-Aid Immersion Blender

You know those recipes that ask you to transfer a hot liquid sauce or soup to a blender and "blend until smooth"?  Well, many-a-cook has been burned using this method, not to mention the mess and extra cleanup!  That's why I love this Kitchen-Aid immersion blender!  I love that I can make a soup all in one pot and just insert the blender right into that same pot!  I have also used it to finish a sauce or gravy, making it smooth and silky.  It comes in handy when loads of tomatoes come in from the garden.  I can cook down tomatoes and season them up, puree with my "stick blender" and strain off for freezing...I use this tool in my kitchen a lot.   It's also great for summertime smoothies; milkshakes; salsas; whipping cream; salad dressings; homemade mayonnaise; hollandaise sauce; hummus; jams, jellies and fruit butters; pestos; dips and spreads and the list goes on...
