Thoughtful Thursday?Mixed Messages

By This Winding Road (Visit website)

(bringing back Thoughtful Thursday posts, enjoy!)

?I don?t waste calories on a glass of wine or a drink unless I?m getting drunk.?

Two of my friends actually said this exact quote last night at dinner. Honestly, after all of the growing I?ve done in the past couple of years, hearing things like really gets to me.

One thing I have a hard time reconciling is the ?Jenny mind-set? (which aligns with the healthy message of moderation of the blog community), and the ?rest of society mind-set? (which seems to be the opposite of what all of us strive for and believe).

For me, I?m working towards a life of balance. A life where I can have a glass of wine at night if I?d like one, and not think twice about it. Since when was enjoying one drink a waste of anything?

Mixed messages? Even bananas are commanding us to ?LOSE weight?.

It occurs to me that many people are unfamiliar with ?enjoying and savoring?. Bottom line: for so many people, moderation is a foreign concept.

What do you guys think? How do you reconcile your mind-set with the rest of society?s mind-set?

 Breakfast

I was astounded by all of your comments on both my hair and vision board in yesterday’s post. Y?all are too kind, thank you :)

I pondered about mixed messages over a bowl of overnight oats this morning:

Leave it to me to have cold oats while we?re under a Winter Store Warning ;)

Live a Little!

The Today Show was ironically interviewing the author?s of the book, Live a Little! in the background of my breakfast. I think the message of this book is great and is completely relevant to today?s post.

Melissa did a great post about this new read, and you can read more about the book, here.

**How do you reconcile or deal with your mind-set versus the rest of society?s mind-set?
