Vegan Dining Heaven (including Brunch!) in Provincetown!

By Vegan in Salem (Visit website)

Greetings! What a week! We returned from another visit to The Cape last Monday. This trip was very different for one main reason. We found a place that makes vegan brunch! We were walking down Commercial Street Saturday night, stopping at every restaurant to look at the menu to see what we can have..and we saw it. This little place called Devon's featured tofu scramble, vegan French toast, vegan granola w/soy, vegan sausage patties, and smoked tempeh strips! Needless to say, we were there the next morning bright and early (nowhere near brunch time, oh well) to get our tasty vegan breakfast. To fully appreciate how much we were anticipating this, you must remember that pretty much anywhere on the Cape is Seafood Central. We are lucky, because in the past, there have been quite a few places there that carry vegan fare, for lunch or dinner. Breakfast on the other hand, is brand new. As far as I know, Devon's is the only place that has it so far, but hopefully other places will catch on. That being said, I certainly don't need to go anywhere else! Devon's had great service, was reasonably priced, and had the most amazing scramble and home fries we have ever tasted (the 9 grain toast w/Earth Balance was amazing too!)! I mean seriously, we went two days in a row...omg, SO good! The coffee was amazing too. I found it funny that our soy milk came in glass bottles with cows on it...haha. No cows were harmed in the making or drinking of our coffee. :-)

And you simply cannot beat this view while you enjoy your meal:

Lunch on Sunday was at one of our favorite places, Patio. The last time we were there, we had fantastic Peach Mojitos and veggie burgers with caramelized onions and grilled portabellos. Nom. This time we still had great drinks...

and a great meal as well. They were sadly out of the veggie burgers due to it being the end of season. It was all good though, because our server recommended their grilled veggie platter over couscous. FABULOUS! This had tons of flavor and tons of veggies! Butternut squash, tomatoes, baby spinach, and shitake mushrooms, all finished off with a beautiful balsamic dressing. OMG...I am salivating now just remembering it! And it was easily lunch for the both of us. Go there, trust me! And thank me later.

For dinner Sunday night, we decided to try Sake. I will say this, the place is gorgeous! They have beautiful long oak tables crafted from old beams from the church that used to occupy the space. The food was outstanding as well. From the miso soup with shitake mushrooms, steamed vegetable dumplings, to the vegetarian (and yes, vegan) Pad Thai, and the beautiful avocado & asparagus rolls served in a BOAT. Everything was beautiful from start to finish. The service however, left something to be desired. Well hey, you can't win them all can you?
