Venturi's Market: Chicken Salad Sandwich
I recently had lunch at Venturi's Market with my Mom. Venturi's, located on North Avenue between Lefeber and 72nd St. in Wauwatosa, is a deli/cafe style shop. There is a small amount of grocery items to purchase, and also a deli where you can buy lunch meet, cheese, rolls, etc. On the other side of the store is the food counter. Mom had heard that Venturi's has fantastic chicken salad sandwich, and we both decided to try it.
Made with chicken, grapes, celery, and the "special sauce." It was served on a Scortino bakery roll with lettuce and a side of either carrots or chips (I chose carrots). When I bit into the sandwich, the chicken in the salad melted in my mouth, it wasn't at all dry like the chicken in some chicken salads can be. The bread was a bit much (I only ate half the roll), and the sauce was overpowering. I was hesitant to get it, because I like to control how much fat (aka mayo) goes into my chicken salads. But it was really good. I'm still trying to figure out what went into the sauce.
