Whole Body Health

By Eat, Live, Run (Visit website)

Hey there!

Oh man, I had another fabulous cross-training session this morning! I love all the cross-training I’ve been doing because it makes me feel like I’m getting stronger and stronger, but I’m just itching to run!!!!! Trying to be patient with myself…..! This morning was more of a whole body workout because it involved every single muscle I have with only two different activities. First there was 20 minutes on the stairmaster, level 8. I don’t know about you, but I think the stairmaster is CRAZY hard!!!! I really have to preoccupy myself the whole time I’m on there or I will get annoyed with myself and hop off. I’m glad I stuck it out though today even though by the end, my calves were burning like crazy!

After the stairmaster, I stripped off my yoga pants and tank top and jumped into the pool! The secret is to wear your bathing suit under your gym clothes and bring your goggles + swim cap in a plastic baggie. I swam for 15 minutes, freestyle. Loved every minute of it. I think swimming is slowly working its way up there to becoming one of my new favorite exercises; I’m really starting to crave it.

After the gym, I steamed and showered and snacked on some raw milk cheese and green tea:

And not to long after, made a GIGANTIC salad for lunch!

+ Half a grapefruit that had been “marinated” in agave and a kiwi

Everything was pretty much perfect here. The salad included:

about 1 whole bag of organic spring mix
1 Sunshine burger (regular, not falafel)
grated raw milk cheese
2 scoops of hummus
drizzle of Annie’s Woodstock Dressing
big handful of sugar snap peas
Big handful of organic parsley
some Mary’s Gone Crackers

The star of this salad were the sugar snap peas. I just LOVE these guys! I could sit with a bag and just go to town. Not cooked though—I love these raw because you get the true taste of the vegetable with all its crispy sweet integrity. The grapefruit was just perfect too. Don’t you just love it when you get a piece of “perfect” produce? Definitely one of the finer things in life.

I’ve been eating so many of (sort of) the same salads for lunch these days because its just what my body is craving! Its SO hot outside and these large salads energize me without weighing me down at all. I never thought I could be satisfied with just a salad for a meal but when you add all these crazy add-ins, it becomes very filling indeed!

I’m off to research and write an article for True/Slant, bring my mom a hunk of ginger for the dinner she’s making and maybe dive more into baking. Is it weird to sell baked goods at a garage sale? The thought just hit me hard. My parents are having a MONSTER of a garage sale on Saturday so I thought I could bake for it, too. Maybe not. We’ll see! I’m just having a major hankering for carrot cake cupcakes……
