Whole Moong Dal (Green Gram) Curry Recipe
Finally am digging up my drafts to find my own recipes! Well i cook too you know, ok i used to and plannin to soon.. have overa 100 on drafts to save me until then. This Whole Green Moong Dal (Green Gram) recipe is one of its kind, inspired by an Indian restaurant in Coventry, tried it out at home immediately. It is really rich and melting in the mouth, unlike simple Dal Curries we make, it seldom tastes like the usual Dal. A must-try for restaurant-style food lovers.
Whole Moong Dal (Green Gram) Recipe Ingredients Whole Green Moong Dal - 2 cups Butter - 1 slab Tomato Puree (Optional) - 1/2 cup Green Chillies - 1 or 2 Garlic - 2 or 3 cloves Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp Milk - 1/2 cup Jeera (Cumin Seeds) - 1 tsp Coriander Powder (Dhania) - 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp Salt to taste For Seasoning Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp Channa Dal - 1 tsp Urud Dal - 1/2 tsp Red Chillies - 1 or 2 Method Soak the Whole Moong Dal in water overnight. Pressure cook the same along with the garlic, green chillies and turmeric powder. Mash the dal well, add the milk and keep aside. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a pan, add jeera and all the powders. Bring in the Tomato Puree now if you are adding, let it cook for few mins. Mix in the mashed dal, cook covered with a lid for 5 to 10 mins. Season with splutted mustard, red chillies and then dals. Serve hot with chapathi or rice! Although this is typically a Makhani, you may add Palak or Paneer with this too! related searches : Whole
